SEGUB strengthens its capacities with the training of Webb Fontaine

November 3, 2023 Reports

Webb Fontaine Benin is launching the second phase of training for SEGUB recruits to ensure the management autonomy of GUCE Benin and strengthen local skills.

In a major step towards strengthening Benin's trade capacity, Webb Fontaine Benin, under the leadership of its Managing Director, Mr. Anicet HOUNGBO, launched the second phase of training for new recruits at the Société d'Exploitation du Guichet Unique du Bénin (SEGUB) on November 8. This initiative follows the official handover of the Single Window for Foreign Trade (GUCE Benin) platform to the government, marking a key step in modernizing the country's trade processes.

Mr. HOUNGBO emphasized the crucial importance of skills transfer to ensure the sustainability of this ambitious project. “Skills transfer is an essential step for the lasting success of this project, vital for Benin’s ambition to position itself as a major player in international trade,” he said. Since April 2021, Webb Fontaine has been organizing in-depth training and immersion programs for SEGUB staff. This two-pronged approach, combining theoretical training and practical experience, aims to equip local teams with the skills needed to manage the GUCE Benin platform independently, thereby reducing dependence on foreign experts and strengthening national capacities.

Mr. Isidore Codo, Director General of SEGUB, praised Webb Fontaine's expertise in trade facilitation solutions, particularly through the use of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence. "Their collaboration allows us to integrate new skills into our team and improve our ability to meet the growing demands of the GUCE Benin platform," he said. He also reminded the trainees of their role as SEGUB's primary showcase, urging them to demonstrate technical and ethical excellence to strengthen public trust in the institution.

This training program illustrates Benin's commitment to developing local expertise and positioning itself as a competitive hub for international trade.
