CustomsWebb has been modernizing Benin customs since 2022: 700+ users, 59,000 declarations processed, 30 billion FCFA collected, 44/49 offices operational.
On January 29th, the Palais des Congrès hosted the 15th review of public finances, a major event organized under the patronage of Mr. Alban Bienvenu BESSAN, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance.
This meeting, held under the theme "Performance in public finance management in light of dematerialization and program-based management", provided an opportunity to present the significant progress of the Global Public Finance Management Reform Plan (PGRGFP) 2023-2027.
CustomsWebb: A technological revolution for Benin's customs service
Mr. Tankian Coulibaly, Director of Operations at Webb Fontaine Benin, presented the progress of the CustomsWebb project, launched in July 2022. This modern integrated system is gradually replacing SydoniaWorld and uses the latest computer technologies.
Impressive results after three years
The figures presented demonstrate the success of this digital transformation:
- Over 700 active user accounts
- More than 90 connected organizations
- More than 48,000 passes issued
- More than 59,000 declarations processed
- Over 100,000 receipts generated
- Over 30 billion FCFA raised
- 44 out of 49 customs offices are already operational
Innovation and local development
The project is distinguished by several major innovations:
- Litigation modules and SIGMAT developed by local teams
- Complete digitization of the document package
- Artificial intelligence-assisted risk management
- Strategic dashboards for decision-making
The five remaining offices will be integrated during the first half of 2025, thus completing the full digital transformation of Benin Customs.
This initiative perfectly illustrates the Beninese government's desire to optimize public finance management through technological modernization and administrative transparency.
